How do I get the Gimble

I want to build my own glidecam, steadi stick, whatever you want to call them... I already have the pod with the weights but I need the gimble...
I would like to know if anyone knows where I can get the gimble?.. It looks to me like its a bearing with a handle attached.

I've been through the isles of home depot but no luck yet..

You can also use a simple ball joint to make your own FloPod style steadicam.

Astro, first things first. You cannot buy a gimbal anyway. It is basically a custom built device made to fit a particular stabilizer, be it a steadicam, glidecam or pro rig. In order to make a gimbal you need 5 bearings in order for it to be a 3-axis gimbal. All axises has to be dead center otherwise you'll have problems when the time comes to balance the rig. I can't stress this enough. Everything has to be centered or on axis to get the optimal performance otherwise you'll start having problems.

Bearings comes in different flovor depending on the application. In this case, being it a stabilizer thing you'll need  ball-bearings for all points on the gimbal; pan(one big bearing),tilt(two small bearings) and roll( two small bearings)axis. Quality also plays a roll. SKF bearings are very descent bearings for the price.
