How do I focus (on timeline) out of focus clips?

I watched a bunch of vids on youtube for focusing out of focus clips but the tutorials were for VEGAS PRO and I have Sony MOVIE STUDIO 13 which lacks a key feature shown in the PRO tutorials.

I know about the videofx but I don't see any options for focus there?

Can anyone help?

All you can do is add a a sharpener or the unsharp filter, maybe work with the bump map a little. But there's really no way to fix out-of-focus clips, and the worse they are, the less you can do. Bad footage is bad footage.

thanks but what is a bump map? Where do I find it?

I guess I was thinking the video clip were like pictures. W pictures, you can edit them for better resolution.

What program allows you to edit a still image to increase its resolution?????????????

Not sure if I used the right term but w Serif movie plus you can increase the clarity of a picture. Not sure you may even beable to do it w a vid clip.

Microsoft Pictures has auto correct. Have you never heard of this stuff? You seem surprised?

Well, the thing is, that even still pictures look like crap if you try to make an out of focus image sharp. Too much sharpening is never a good idea. Sometimes you can get away with quite a bit if you have a 24 megapixel image that is delivered as a 1mp image for the web. In video you don't have that luxury of excessive resolution.

What exactly was the tool from VEGAS PRO that was used in the video you saw?
That might help us determine a similar tool or method.

no I SAID it was SERIF MOVIE PLUS.

I might be stating it incorrectly but I was able to manipulate the picture w it. I'll have to go in and take a look before I can tell you more about it.

You didn't say anything was Serif Movie Plus. You said you saw videos for Vegas Pro, but you work with Vegas Movie Studio.

Look, everyone wants to help you, but you have to clear on what you need, and you have to not get angry at people when they're trying to help.

The Convolution Kernel PreSet for Sharpen works reasonably well and I have occasionally used Sharpen and Unsharp Mask together and, once, the three of them on the same event. The damage to quality (noise and grain being increased) often makes this unacceptable however. If these don't woprk I'm afraid you've had it.
