How do I find a crew?

At the same time, I'm confident that I'll be great at this or else I wouldn't have spent about 3K on equipment and dedicated so much of my life to this project.

I wish I had that kind of confidence. I've spent an equal amount on equipment and am in the same boat (about to start production on a short). And my thoughts on it are.. "God, I hope this doesn't suck." Which is why I've taken months to work on the script and another couple of months to rehearse and practice everything. I, like yourself, think I have the capabilities to make a good film but there's other factors that may be beyond our control (like actors/crew capabilities). But I'm still not confident that it will even be "good". There's no way to know until you've done it. Even A-List directors don't know if somethings going to be "good" until they've at least started seeing dailies but even then it's still up in the air. I guess it's good to be confident but aware of your flaws at the same time.

Anyway, good luck on your endeavors.

I have confidence in that if I fail, I still succeeded by following through with everything. I'll never wonder what if later on in life.

To reinforce success despite my inexperience, I followed the KISS method very closely. Wrote a very non-demanding script, with very believable dialogue allowing actors to be themselves in a very real and familiar enviornment. I let the conflict and comedy arrive from the circumstances more than forced atmosphere or overly dramatic acting.

One mistake I see in low budget movies all the time is horrible music. I've chosen to keep music out of the product almost entirely for the one fact that it hurts more than helps if not used right.

I'm also now interviewing many experienced, talented, and local DP's that will help to immensely to the project.

My DP is going to be the main director, while I direct the acting.

Small cast, few locations, experienced DP, great script, and me trying to avoid things I hate in every low budget movie I see. Sounds good to me.

Hi:
Find a good and trustfull crew. Don't try to controll everything because if you get to be an 'one man show' you'll end up messing everything and people will loose their good will to do (even if they are pros) anything.
I'm always learning and it's wonderfull to learn from everyone here and words of wisdom came up in this post. I found them very usefull and learned much. I'm sure you did too.
And remember something: you might have good equipment, good script, good actors, good crew... but there's something you still don't have: a film, good or bad. That will only come up in the end of all the process and joining all the good and the bas stuff that came from all the production.
Believe in yourself. Trust in your team. That's one of the secrets.:)

I'm doing great now. I've got an amazing DP(just finished a $40,000 movie he took to festival) that has family 15 miles from my house, an AC, and Boom Guy. I'm doing awesome now. My cast and locations are great too!

I should be filming next four week from now.
