How do I create a Closed Caption file (scc format)?

Hi, I'm currently fullfilling a list of deliverables our distributor has asked for and am having trouble with creating a closed caption file in the scc format. Is there a recognised workflow to this? What is the best software to help me do this? I've tried a freeware program called Subtitle Workshop, but this doesn't seem to handle closed captioning in the scc format.

Thanks in advance :)

Closed captioning & subtitles are totally different animals. Subtitles are for translations for people who can hear well but don't speak the language of the film, captioning is for hearing impaired people who do speak the language of the film. These are very different needs, and CC is often a legal requirement for TV broadcast.

For CC software, take a look at http://www.cpcweb.com/products/

If this is for a single film, it will be cheaper to send it off to a captioning service.

You can create Closed Caption file (.scc) with Sony Vegas 10

Thanks for the advice. That software ain't cheap, is it? I guess I'll have to look into sending the film off to a caprioning service :)

You can easily create Closed Caption (.SCC) file with Sony Vegas Pro 10.
I also provide captioning service at qcaption.com.
