How do I choose Clipwrap setting?

Howdy:

I just bought Clipwrap to fix MTS files from a Panasonic HDC-TM700 (shot in the default HG mode) so I can edit them in FCP7. So far, so good, but I'm a little confused on which is the best approach for conversion. The discussions say convert to AIC or ProRes. My question is what's the difference? And, if ProRes is the answer, are we talking about 422, 422 HQ, 422 Proxy, or 422 LT? A good answer could save me a lot of experimenting.

Sorry if we've already been down this trail, but I don't see it.

Thanks.

AIC is dinosaur, unless you have an old powerpc mac system with FCP 4.5 or earlier there is no need to use it anymore.
As for the which prores; if you have plenty of space stick with prores 4:2:2 as that is all you need. You wont be able to tell the difference between 4:2:2 and 4:2:2 LT in most cases, and if you have limited space LT is the best way to go.
4:2:2 HQ is if your project is destined for the big screen "so they say" although I never tried, probably if you gonna go nuts with the color grading there is your option.
