How did you get started in "the biz"?

I'm 31 and became interested in video production when I was about 26. Was a journalism major and simply became tired of it. I dabbled in photography while in college, so when I discovered a video production class, I took it out of curiosity and nearly fell in love within the first hour. Graduated, got a job at a local TV station. That lasted 6 months, as it was for sale. Chose not to retain employment with buyer and decided to do freelance work. Went from producing local commercials to shooting weddings for a few years, with a commercial here and there. I had another job, so video was more of a hobby at the time. Last year, I had the chance to move to Colorado, and I jumped at the chance. I've been here for a year, doing nothing but video production and I've worked on documentaries, a spot for ESPN, local commercials, national commercials, music videos, and even went to Kenya for a few weeks to work. I've made connections here and in Los Angeles. Things seem to be looking up, and I hope I can keep up this momentum!
