Re: How did you arrive initially at this site?
Like John, I was originally going to buy an XL-1s. I ended up doing a ton of research and realizing that I'd be better off with an PD-150. This was all before the DVX was released. By the time I was ready to buy, the DVX was close to release and the audio specs looked really great. Plus there were rumors that the audio quality was going to blow away the PD-150. I looked the DVX ads and thought the CineSwitch stuff was a bunch of ridiculous marketing hype. I thought the DVX sounded like a solid camera and I figured 24P was a gimmick I'd never use, but there was no harm in just turning it off.
At the time I was hanging out on 2-pop quite a bit with some time on DVINFO.net and other sites as well. At one point Jarred announced his site and I checked it out--there were like 20 posts or something and although it looked interesting, I was still voraciously reading through the mountain of posts on 2-pop. I thought, I'll come back in a bit and see what's happening. In the meantime I got my DVX and was blown away. There started to be a lot of DVX trashing by people on the other boards--which I thought was ridiculous and petty. There were so many brand war posts, I got kind of turned off and checked back here and Jarred had gotten things off to a great start. I stuck around and also really got into how DVXuser was a community of DV filmmakers above any other concerns. Everyone thought the DVX rocked, but anyone was welcome. I thought that was pretty cool--and I still do.
