I'm making a movie and wanted to do my opening credits like the ones on Se7en, how the titles look handwritten and twitchy kind of (I don't know if thats the right word to use) and i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for how i could pull that off.

they say on the dvd. I think it was done on 16mm. There might be something on the imaginary forces website (i think they did it) I have to pop in the dvd again

Se7en is considered one of the modern masterpieces of opening title design. Designed by Kyle Cooper of Imaginary Forces http://www.imaginaryforces.com/if.html it was groundbreaking for it's time.

Like everything in this business, if it's good, it get's imitated to death because very few of us can do anything original like coming up with a whole new visual style. Those flicker, bulb pop and bleeding, twitching effects can easily be done in After Effects. They are a standard that any AE 101 student should know. I don't know enough about AE to actually walk you through it but it should be easy to do in AE.

Not sure but you could probably also do them in Motion if you are an FCS2 user.

Best,

Dan

Yup, that was pretty cool. I've definitely seen similar uses a bunch since then. I'm not even a beginner yet with AE so I can't help.

That can be easily done in After Effects but what makes that intro so good is the whole thing together. The text effect is actually cheesy and alone would be boring as hell but along with the great imagery it makes it look 100 times better. Like others said though, its been done a million times since.

It's what spliced film does in a projector - it's that simple. The tape makes it jump. I wish I had a nickel for everytime I was asked this in my film classes...
