How can I save flash video from the web?

I used to use a site that would rip it for me but I'm not sure what ever happened to that site. How else can I rip flash video from a site?

The old way we used to do it was use IE , play the vid until it's done, don't exit the video, then check your 'temp internet' folder. It's hidden by default. But if you look in there, look for the .flv file, copy and paste it somewhere else

//Firefox doesn't work because it puts all of your browsing into one file. (That's another story)

There arre number of downloaders out there. I'm currently using "Video Backup Fusion" which saves the videos (from YouTube only, I think) into wahtever you want. I do MP4. There are a lot of them out there for free.

But if you mean one that will do it for whatever random site you're on....that'll take a more intensive search "out there". But I'm sure there are a few.

Use "Activity" in Safari.

This works. Open activity in Safari. You'll have to hunt for the flv file. Once you find it, copy that link and paste it into the download window. Works great on YouTube as a lot of the files are in MP4 format. You can also get Mpeg Streamclip, which can open flash files and html link and will transcode. It's free--

The Activity window in Safari usually works.

There's also a Firefox add-on called Video Download Helper that makes it very easy to download whatever video is playing in the browser. Supposedly it can also convert it to different formats, though I have never tried that as it makes it take a lot longer.

You don't have to copy/paste that link, just double click it and it begins to download. Works on about 90% of videos. For the rest I use what agcohn suggested, Video Download Helper.
