How can I make "digital zooms" look less digital and more organic?

I'm working on putting together a music video style presentation composed of 98% stills. As a result, I'm trying to work in almost every documentary technique to keep it interesting...

The easiest trick is to simply pan around the images and "zoom" in and out of elements.

The problem is making this look natural... not smooth, but not too jerky either.

Is there a plug in available or any known techniques that might "soften" the simplest of digital effects?

I'm not sure exactly what you're after, but it sounds like you want something similar to the ease in/ease out keyframe property. This can be obtained by right clicking on your motion keyframes, and selecting the appropriate option.

Yeah, what fixit said... also make sure you deinterlace the images so they don't go alias-crazy and jiggle all over the place
