How Can I Make a Transparent Female Ghost Cross the Street?

I am trying to figure out how to shoot this scene. We have a girl walking from one side of the road to the other into the forest. This is shot late at night and she needs to be a ghost witnessed by a driver in his car. Now, I want the girl to have a light glow and be somewhat transparent. Not sure how exactly to do this shot. This is the biggest and only special effect in the film.I am open to any suggestions. Thanks!

In the shots where she's visible, is the camera still, and what else is visible (e.g. the driver?)

The simplest way would be to keep the camera atill, have everything else onscreen still too (being particularly careful about things like wind affecting the forest's trees), then film the scene twice, once with no girl and then again with the girl illuminated by a narrow spolight which follows her. Then in your editor, make the girl track partially transparent and put it over the background track.

It all gets much much harder if the camera and background and other onscreen elements are moving - some sort of greenscreening and/or masking would be the obvious option.

Hey Thanks! SHe will be the only one walking from one side to the other. I want her walk to have a rather slow pace because once she gets to the other side and walks into the forest I want her to fade. So, the camera will be still (maybe slowly panning as she walks) Nothing else in the show except maybe some tress up ahead or something. I know it is a very easy shot so I knew it could not be that difficult.Very helpful advice. Thanks again!

if you pan you will have to do it exactly the same way with both shots or they wont line up

thats why i believe he said keep the camera still and not move

if you have after effects im sure you can find a tutorial at videocopilot.net that would make it look really good

good luck
