How can I keep same sharp image I had before burning CD?

...(as I'm learning Vegas step by step) The problem I have now is that, I put some FX on my footage (2 separate files; I tacked one to the end of another).

I added brightness, the black and white, film look, color balance, etc.
(I put the the black & white, film look on one file; the other is color with added color FX).

When I view it on my monitor, in Vegas, it looks sharp, just fine.

But when I burned it to a CD, then played it in Windows Media Player, the footage now looks blurry and not as sharp; the black & white footage even has dark blotches that giggle like a ghost, and is very blurry.

It's as though it was analog video, stepped down 2, 3 times.
Why is it that, when I burned the footage/files to CD the image became blurry, blotted with dark areas, etc.? Why did it loose the sharp, clear presense it had when in Vegas and I was editing.

Thanks. :undecided

Is this a Video CD? For one thing, VCDs are encoded in MPEG-1, which is a very highly-compressed file, and you aren't going to get DV or DVD quality with it. You'll see artifacting (which could be the "blotches") and loss of resolution.

Yes, it is Video CD. I have tried burning a DVD (I have the DVD-R & DVD-RW) but everytime I am in DVD Architech and try to Burn DVD, I get an error message asking me to insert a blank DVD, which it is. I'll try again. Thanks guys.

jUST HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT WAS VIEWING RENDERED HiDef ANIMATION till I viewed it in Nero Showtime and all of the hi resolution was intact, Windows Media Player sux! View using somthing else...
