I know I know another "how do i get this look thread". Im sorry.

Im shooting with a canon dslr and have adobe premiere/after effects to work with. Im looking for that "90s look". Basically i want what i shoot to look like it could fit right into a 90s tv show. For example The Adventures of Pete and Pete. I want it to look like that. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks!

There doesn't seem to be anything too crazy going on. Lots of soft even light... probably a lot of natural.

Is it 30P ? ITs too smooth to 24,maybe 25 with low shutter ,im not sure but i think its 30p.
What defined this show is the sound ,its very particular type of sound so when you are in other room then you know that its THIS show and not some else.

Ok i checked the clip and IT IS 30p,but it looks like film ,maybe 16mm in 30 fps.

You have to not grade well (ie deep blacks and bright highlights). Remember, most stuff was just shot. There wasn't "post-processing" like there is now. So think a little on the washed out side, low contrast.

If your goal is Pete & Pete...then use some diffusion as well. That show seemed to have lots of softened skin and stuff sometimes. Overall lighting is pretty flat and even as previously stated. Pay attention to the camera work as well in terms of how it moves and the whip pans and stuff they do.

along with the cheese-diffusion filters, I've always noticed that 90's shows that shot of film seem to have a magenta feel in the highlights. There is actually a telecine lab in LA that me and my friends joke about, if you want the 90's look, send your footage there, because the one-light they put on it looks like total crap 90s.

Also, depending on your project, if you can run your footage thru an old betacam deck, you'll get more washy goodness.
