How can I do transition effects like that

Alright --

With the caveat that I'm not able to watch the video right at this moment (no QT on this machine), with experience, you'll find that there's very little in the way of "effects" that Vegas can't do, and that it handles and manipulates still photos better than just about any other NLE.

I'm guessing that they're transitioning from moving video into still pictures? Cake. You would use a velocity envelope to slow down the video until it becomes still. From there you can grap still images from the video to use as your stills, or you can keep the playback rate of the video at zero.

You most certainly could pull it off with vegas and photoshop, although after effects or combustion would allow you to do it more precisely.
Did anyone else think the stripper was out of place at the end of the video? I have nothing against naked women, but it just kinda got thrown in there for the "naked" effect.

dang id love to edit like that.. but alas im just a camera man and im not good at editing.. looked like old school rotoscoping. thats a very cool clip, nice stunts.. and yeah the naked broad i was not ready for.. threw me off! lol

id love to be ale to do that in vegas.. perhaps one day... :)

wat kind of effect is on that picture of the first guy that pops up in the intro? it shows the different shades and shadows. What effect is that?

ya that was pretty dope, does anyone know how to zoom into the back ground like that? and then disolve into the next photoshop item? no clue how to do that.

one of my favorite videos from the 80's.. AHA's "Take on me".. man.. that video was ahead of its time then....

i love rotoscoping work!!

That video did kick ass. (And admittedly I still like that song)

Remember the end sequence when he is all manic banging against the walls? Homage from ALTERED STATES; now do you remember that film?
