How Can I Do This Neon/Graffiti Effect in FCP

Does anyone know how i can create the same neon and graffiti type drawing effects in final cut studio for a video... im new to this forum but it seems that you guys are on top of what you do so im hoping you might have some insight thanks

below is the video example to show what im asking for

Video Example

well technically the latest version of motion can do stuff like this but it was prob done in after effects. animating squigly lines and glowing them is fairly simple but doing a 3d track from the dolly move in the video and matching the animation to it is tricky and much easier to do in ae than motion. if you want a cool animating line plug for fcp try 3d stroke from trapcode.

Honestly just play around with livetype you'll find something close and then you can filter it and mess around with it in fcp.

? livetype won't let you trace around objects or animate 3d squigly lines....

if you want some after effects help, try videocopilot.net. awesome.

I did something similar using the motion tracking in Motion 3. Its pretty easy, You just make a circle, then apply the particle emitter, set it so the particles dont go any where, and then use the match move behavior so as the cross moves it streaks along. You can then add various glow filters to make it look like neon...

this is not the exact effect you are going for but here is an example of creating light streaks using a particle generator. in this case there is a solid streak with spark-like particles falling from it. two different sets of particles coming from a single emitter that is animated. one set does not dispurse. it stays in the spot where it was emitted or "born", hence the solid trail left by the emitter. the other set of particles do dispurse at a velocity rate set in the plugin. plus they have atmospheric properties such as gravity, inertia, and wind affecting their path.

this is also a little different because it's on top of a hand held shot so everything had to be motion tracked. however, i think this technique helps sell the shot a lot better than had it been locked on sticks. when the animation moves with a shaky handheld shot you will get a lot more "how'd they do that?"
