How and where do I send a tv script to?

I have this idea for a tv show where and how do I send it to a station. I assume I just copyright it under performing arts?

Thanks

your best bet is you find a few agents from various agencies, mail them a query letter and see if any respond. if they do, they should be able to find someone interested in your concept.

Television concepts are a dime a dozen. Quite a different animal from feature specs. Most go with established writer/producers that have already proven themselves for new TV concepts.

The usual way in the door is through a spec of a show that's already been produced. Write your own script on the show, send it in and hope for the best. Best case scenario, they invite you for a meeting to discuss either a staff position or your spec. If (very small if) you do land a gig, then you can start pimping your own concepts and hope someone bites.

There's a pretty cool book called, 'Writing the TV Drama Script' by Pamela Douglas that explains all this in detail.

Good luck to you!

What you do is first get the idea down on paper. Write up a detailed outline of what the show is and what's involved and submit that to the writers guild ($20). This way you'll be protected in case someone takes your idea.

The next step is to contact producers of said program type and make attempts to get them to listen to your idea. To do this just find the name of the production company (found during end credits) and get an address/phone number (go online or call producers guild).

Hope this helps.

This is bad advice and will get you nowhere.

LOL, and I agree, though probaby with good intentions..

There are always exceptions, but in the highly competitive world of network television ( if that is what you are aiming for), you have to have a lot of credibility before someone listens to your ideas. You can't just show up and say, "I have this neat idea."

You could write the pilot and then get an agent. Everyone on hollywood (and beyond) has a great idea for a tv show or film. how many people get the words into a script?

screw all that though, shoot the pilot, turn it into a series, get a following and then voila! you have your own channel..something like this:

way sshway, my friends..good luck

It got me into talks with a fellow at Endeavor Talent Agency a year ago. I didn't get far because I just started writing at that time.

Everything you said was wrong, again. However this quote above was the most insulting. There is no way you sent in some amatuer (self proclaimed) 'TV Concept' to Endeavor and they called you in for a meeting. This did NOT happen, I bet my life on it.

You should do your research before giving advice, and definately stop lying about meetings that never happened. I know how Endeavor works, and they would never do this.

Sorry if I come across rude, that's not my intention. But sending someone down the wrong path is not cool.
