How add videos to my website

I'm new to this I just started my own website and I need to know how I can embed the videos on my site as quicktime.

Specfics please.

Example - I have the file on my computer where do I upload it on my website into a specific folder?

Sorry If it sounds basic but this is my first website I don't have problems designing it but just adding videos.

Not shortly after this post I firgured out how to upload it to my website now I just need to know how to embed it to a certain page and where I want it to be. So this portion still needs to be answered.

No problem. I had to figure out the same thing when I placed quicktime files on my site.

Here's what you do.

#1) First of all make sure the file size is download friendly. Visitors won't watch your videos if they have to wait 30 minutes to download a 100mb file. Keep the files between 5-20mb, if possible. (Maybe post the file size below the video so visitors have an idea of how long it will take.)

#2) Visit these Tutorials to get you started http://www.macspot.blogspot.com/ and http://www.stager.org/imovie/qtweb.html

#3) Upload your quicktime file to your site and change the <embed> code that you inserted into your html page so that it points to the file (if you placed it in a subdirectory then you'll need to insert "folder-name/file-name.mov"). Start off simple (just a blank page with the <embed> code. Once it's working right then add it to your websites template.

#4) If it's not working then visit a webpage that has an embedded quicktime and then, with your browser, chose "View Source". That will show you all the html code and if you look around you'll find how they embedded their movie. Copy their embed code and paste it into your webpage. Then change the "src" links to point to your file.

Thanks Pj I actually firgured it out is was so FREAKING EASY I have tripod.com and I have a membership and it comes with site builder and it gives the option to add link and to play the link within the original page and it streams it for me or I can play it in another window.

Anyhow thanks a bunch.
