How 2 Estimate E&O/Liability

Hello and thanks for looking:

I need to estimate errors and omissions and liability costs. My need is to create a preliminary budget to gain nonprofit fiscal sponsorship for a documentary. I will interview academic experts and "man on the street" and will purchase a moderate amount of stills and stock. I could fill out a form online for an estimate but just want to plug in some numbers for now. I assume I really need liability, yes? Do I need E&O? Any ideas?

Budget=$150,000-175,000

Number of Crew=2

Production length=6 months (intermittent)

Location=U.S. with just one week in Europe

Value of equipment owned and rented=$15,000

Thanks again,
Moe

I just delivered a film and my e and o was 10k. The distributor advanced the cost and will take it out of sales. Dave

Thanks Dave but how much did the 10k of coverage cost the production, the amount paid to the insurance company, any idea? Anybody have any estimates on what liablilty coverage would be for the above-mentioned production?

Check out this company. Have not signed with them yet, but you can get both equipment coverage and $1M liability for a year just a few hundred dollars.

E&O is another story altogether, and probably can't be underwritten until you have a final print.
