Hovering Text Question

I shot a commercial and I need numbers to float over my characters heads like halos.

My characters move, so the numbers need to move smoothly with them.

Anyone done a similar effect? Can I do it in Live Type or after fx....

What's your budget? Boujou is the best tool for the job (kinda expensive). SynthEyes is around $300-$400.
