House rumble

How would you go about achieving an effect of a house rumbling from inside? Not necessarily violent shaking like that of an earthquake, but something as if a giant creature was stampeding upstairs or nearby from the perspective of a downstairs room. Or any kind of shaking without damaging an actual house?

Camera on a bungee with some well place shots of stuff on a table shaking, a picture falling, etc... reinforced in post with some great low freq FX.

Put the house on a bungee....

No, you can do a camera shake with after effects. Just make it a small, and not so violent one.
