Hours last the head

Hello to all, i'm new in this forum, I am in order to buy a dvx100a and I would want to know how many hours last the head (sorry for my english) before changing them, and if I must hold in consideration other particular before the purchase

Well, I have nearly 500hrs on my camera, and still no problems, things are running as smoothly as day one. I have heard word that the heads should last around 900hrs before having problems, but that doesn't mean they can't last longer if you take good care of your camera, meaning, always use the same tape stock and don't use the camera as a capture deck. I'll be moving on from the DVX soon, I'll still keep it around for the occasional request for DVX specific shoots, but I don't think you really need to worry about your heads dying before your done using the DVX completely.
 
I've actually heard rumors saying that if treated well, the heads may last up to 1500-2000 hrs. Anyway, I don't really imagine that anyone would shoot that much before the cam is obsolete. :)

And think about the tape costs....
