I and some other locals, decided to take a crack at the 48 hour that just passed our way for a bit of fun. The people not available to us on the day were sound(bummer).
I decided to ditch using a mixer (boom op isnt the person for that), and go straight into the 500, and record everything into my Sanken CS3. Recorded everything two channels set at different levels and monitored the highest.
When it came to Sunday I had one word too hot on both tracks. Its legible. Anyway so after I cut I was beating myself up a bit that I didnt catch it. But then last night felt a bit better when watching an episode of NCIS. An interview scene (in that little room they use for anyone familiar), and suddenly I heard a whole line of shouted dialogue breaking. It did make me feel better that, hey they have budget and time and people and of course in a 48 hour I had none of those, and still they didnt get it perfect.
Just thinking , one hot word that can be masked a bit so its unnoticeable, am I being to hard on myself? I have a habit of doing it and need some objective opinion.
