Hello.
I am no after effects wizard.
I am doing white text on black background.
How do I make it flash?

sorry for dumb question.
I am new.

Thanks.

Re: Horator

depending on what "flash" means to you, heres a simple tip i use that doesn't involve much and gives great results...

1 keyframe your opacity 0-100 / 100-0 on a 6i basis
2 duplicate your text layer
3 blur your duplicated text layer with a 12points Gaussian Blur or a 10-15 Motion Blur depending on what you want (you can make this effect even more powerfull by using Minimax effect keyframed the same way opacity is)
4 Put this burred layer above your first Text layer and change it's transfer mode to "ad"
(5) duplicate the blurred text will increase effect

another solution is to play with a keyframed Glow effect or, using third party plugins such as SHINE or STARGLOW from Trapcode. i personally don't use built-in Cycore effects since they are slooooowwwww render.

Re: Horator

Thank you.
but i want the whole frame to flash.
like a light bulb.

Re: Horator

Ok... sorry i didn't got that. Please reply and be as specific as you can and i'll try to help you.

Do you want a simple white flash or a flash coming from the text blowing the all frame ?

Do you whant to really mimic a light bulb or just ad a cool / fast transition effect ?

Re: Horator

maybe u can try ...
making a new black solid layer and puting the strobe effect to it to make it flash white at whatever freq u want...and use that flashing solid as the source of a lumamatte.

or simply do some opacity keyframes.

Re: Horator

uh...nevermind...
u want it to flash like a light bulb.

maybe use trapcode's shine, if u want light rays coming through the letters.

anyway...maybe a more descriptive visual would be nice.
