homemade mic mount (pics)

I made this little bracket today from some parts at the hardware store and some bits of the Panasonic-supplied auxillary mic mount. I couldn't find a hotshoe adapter anywhere quickly, so I built this thing. I think the pictures pretty much explain the concept. What do you think?

I like it. It's really high so it stays out of the frame, and I think once I paint it black it will look a bit nicer. :) I do have a Senn. hotshoe-mount shockmount, but I hate pulling the mic in and out of the Ktec KSM. This way I just unscrew from the boom and screw it to the camera.

I'm not sure if I'll keep the grommets and washers or not. It makes the rig a little "floppy", but then again it's only a centimeter of wiggle and that requires a fairly vigourous shaking. I think I might be getting a bit more isolation from handling/camera noise, I'll have to test...
