Home Use Lighting system for Video? Cool Daylight or Warm White?

Hi,

Recently i wish to do a simple VideoBlog for my webpage.
And because of tight budget...what lighting s'ld i use for my shooting?
Shall i go for Home Use lighting system like Table Lamp or Flourecent Light?
Cool Daylight or Warm White light?
Bulb or Tube?
if setting up the basic 3 point Lighting...how strong is the power s'ld shine out from the bulb or tube for each position key, fill and back light?

Thanks for advice..appreciate!!

If you have the ability to set white balance on your camera, and if there are no other light sources except for your lights, then I don't think it matters which type or temperature of lights you use, as long as they're all the same. You camera is going to set 'white' anyway.

I believe the fluorescents will give you a softer, more diffused light, but they don't have quite the reach and range of an incandescent bulb.

I'm not a lighting expert, though. So if anyone here with more experience tells you something different, they're probably right.

Well, the problem with those fixtures is that there's no way to control or shape the light so it'll be difficult to set up a key, fill or backlight. Whether you use a table lamp or a fluorescence tube light is just going to spill everywhere making everything looks flat. I suppose you can make DIY flags to shape the lights, but by then you're already spending more time and money than if you'd just use professional fixtures to start with.

What I would say is use what you have, but if you're using flourescent, stick with flourescent because stuff like worklight tends to be low color temperature and that's going to create some weird WB differences. Look into Chinaballs for a nice fill source that can be hung up
