Home made teleprompter

Me and Joe built this thing today. The mirror is a Barbertech, but we built the LCD mount and the adjustable riser. Material cost including the 19" monitor around $200.00. This is way less than buying from a retailer.

That's a great teleprompter. I'm having to replace the monitor on mine because it is soooooo small. I bought a 15" monitor (the glass can take about 12") but the risers aren't enough. The original is from Prompter People--too expensive to replace this one now. I'm thinking all I really need to do is change my risers to accommodate the thicker LCD monitor. Thanks for your post!

Hi ,

I have found the Barbertech website but can't find the price for the mirror alone. How much did you pay for the mirror?

There's some guys in Sydney selling mirrors and also teleprompter / autocues for super cheap man. www.prompt-it.com.au and you use your ipad or iphone. i have pre ordered a ipad version can't wait and for $200 says they have the special glass too. WF.

Jim,

I actually bought the glass from BarberTech. It comes with a hood and set screws that attach it to your lens. Here is the link: http://www.barbertvp.com/products-list-teleprompters.html.

The glass and mount is $599.00. The riser I made and monitor mount I made because their price was crazy. I picked up a monitor at Staples for less than $110 and the aluminium for the riser was very cheap.
