There were a few posts mentioning the use of the SoftScreen in the "film look" and DOF threads...

I haven't had the chance to try this yet, but theoretically, wouldn't you be able to make a simple/cheap "softscreen" by spraying something like hairspray on a piece of plexiglass?

If the hairspray on a piece of plexiglass thing works, could you create a shot with the foreground out of focus by spraying only a portion of the frame?

Or, maybe someone could figure out what kind of plastic the softscreen is made of and let us all know. I would try and do it myself but I am away on location on someone elses shoot. Don't have my camera with me. ;D :-*
