That looks amazing. I love jib shots, but real cranes are $1,000+, so something like that would be great if it's at all smooth. Could you please give us some tips on how to make it?
DVXFilmMaker and I constructed that crane in just a few hours. We are thinking of producing them at a very reasonable cost for all of us to enjoy.
We used it on Saturday strapped to the back of a pickup to get some cool shots of vintage motor cycles cruzing throug a canyon. I'll see if I can get more pics posted online including a a few video clips.

So, are these your original plans or did they come from somewhere else?

Our (proto type) crane extends 7 feet above the tripod. In the final design we plan to have inter changable tubes to extend or shorten the length of the crane.
As for the price we are trying to keep it under $500.00. The price of steel and aluminum isn't cheap these days.

I can't take total credit for the idea as there are cranes avalable that are similiar.
Our design when fully completed will have new features that will make this crane very unique, allowing for some really cool crane shots.
I am currently working on a modified version of what we already constructed. Once completed I will post new pics complete with detailed features. If we get enough orders, we will look into making a limited production run for those interested.
BTW: Like Ray mentioned, we would love to make this available to those of you who don't have an area to construct this thing. I like it way better than a commercial one that I purchased like a year ago.
