Hollywood. Official time of death: 2011. I have proof!

The Arthur doesn't look any worse than the original. Mirren will be just as good as Gilgud in the role, and Brand is at least as talented as Moore. Don't get me wrong, we do not need another version of Arthur, but I can't see how it's any worse than the first one...well, except for that humiliating exercise they put the great Luis Guzman through. And of course he does look decidedly sober in this one.

Sort of like that heinous, tight-assed, prissy, virginal remake of Risky Business they barfed out a few years back. Jesus, we've gotten to be some sad, sad people.

There was a remake of Risky Business?

I did see the cowardly, whitewashed, after-school-special remake of Fame recently. Talk about missing the point entirely . . .

The original is no classic, but for better or worse that was the role Dudley Moore was born to play and I don't see Brand being anywhere as entertaining.

Oh. Well, I suppose, in the same way Hot Tub Time Machine was a remake of Back to the Future.

Really? Seems to me that, except for surface things like character names, there are just as many similarities between Risky Business and Girl Next Door as there are between the old Arthur and the new Arthur. What's the dif?
