Hockey Injury

Yeah, those are both nasty. I didn't really want to watch it when I saw the highlight last night and had to turn away, once I saw how much blood hit the ice immediately after it happened. Surprised they finished the game actually.

The Malarchuk one is something I can't watch, there is too much blood.

While these are freak accidents, I'm suprised it doesn't happen more often than it does.

Look at the fans in the background of this picture. That says it all.

Ironic that both this and the Malarchuk one both happened in Buffalo too.

Glad to hear that Zednik is going to be okay.

I've always said hockey players are the toughest out there (there might be a few boxers tougher). A lot of them play with injuries most other athletes would lay in bed over.

Like when Crosby played the final few weeks of last season with a broken foot and didn't tell anyone?

Crosby is a baby. It was only a hairline fracture too. :)

What gets me about hockey players is how much they get sticked in the face or puck in the head and are right back out there. Game I watched on the weekend Dan Cleary got a puck in the face and it broke his jaw, he didn't make it back out for the rest of the game, but damn, that would ****ing hurt.

Out of all the professional sports, I think football is probably the most demanding on the body, followed closely by hockey. The average career of a football player is like 2.5 years or something.

Baseball players get a sore finger and they have to go on the DL for like two weeks.

While not a proffesional sport (or even a sport) I think wrestling (WWE) is a hell of a lot more demanding on the body than boxing or MMA (this is mainly due to the constant injuries, travel and wrestling like 200 and some times a year). There was a documentary on here on the CBC on Chris Benoit and study they did on his brain after he killed his family and himself, the concluded the amount of concussions he had over his career resulted in him having a brain of an 85 year old with dementia. Wrestling entertainment is nasty on the body.

That's a nasty injury. I'm just glad he's going to be okay. He's a hockey player, he's tough.

As a hockey player (some minor college play) myself, I can tell you they are some tough mothers... or a better word may be resilient. (although I was never that tough)

Just the attitude of pro hockey players, as well as their character is something not a lot of other sports can touch. They excel professionally and are pretty quiet about it... pretty humble guys who love their sport.

Keep in mind that goalies used to NOT WEAR MASKS. Holy cow. I won't even play competitive ice hockey period without a visor.

Goalies not wearing masks was insane. Although at the time the puck was never lifted like it is today and goalies mainly were on their feet most of the time, that being said, it's was still crazy.

Trivia: Anyone know who the first goalie was to wear a mask?

Yeah totally man. I've seen that so many times along with the Rocket Richard one as well.

Those Canadian Heritage commercials are great, and I can't tell you how many times I've mocked those growing up. Ca-na-da-can - "It means the village those people"

"Let's cut the bottom out of the basket", "But I need these baskets back".

LOL! I wonder how many people will get this?

Haha, yeah, probably not to many.

There are so many gold ones too. Off the top of my head there is...

"Papa ain't gonna make"

"Both of ya know, I cannot read a word"

"Across the ocean for the first time, ever"

"Joel Schuster, it will never fly" "Fly, no, but jump over tail buildings"

and of course, the classic "I smell burnt toast"
