Hobo With a Shotgun!

The winner of the Grindhouse trailer contest, Hobo with a Shotgun, is now being shot as a feature, and you won't believe who they got to play the hobo. You can see him in the last shot of this montage. Maybe if I beg I can get my Black Mantis trailer attached to the movie--

Black Mantis could easily run with that! "I'm givin' it to ya straight" I could quote Mantis ALL Day.

I thought it was effing hilarious. Not on par with 'Thanksgiving' But it's a great trailer. Nice find. I thought I was the only one who liked Hobo.

I enjoyed that!...That monologue is pretty fantastic...The first half gave me a serious, early 80's John Carpenter-esque vibe. The 2nd half an early Peter Jackson gore-fest. All I'll say is that Jason Eisener lucked out big time by getting an actor of Rutger Hauer's caliber.

Man, this is the second film to be made from a fake Grindhouse trailer? Looks fun as hell. I would love to see a new movement of ultra-cheesy 70's-80's style action flicks like this.

And Batutta, you gotta talk to these guys about running Black Mantis with it...

I already posted on Eisener's blog...he said he'd love to...but we'll see. You know how these things are.

I think the key is that you actually have to deliver a legitimate movie-going experience above just being a nostalgic cheese-fest. That's what I like about what I'm seeing with Hobo With A Shotgun. It's not just a compendium of cliches. I caught Black Dynamite on cable and I oddly couldn't sit through it. I should have liked it, but it got tiresome real fast because there was no real story to engage me.

Agreed. Both this and Machete look like actual movies, just that they are taking on a specific aesthetic. Black Dynamite was more a goof, but seemed not quite a parody the way Undercover Brother was(great movie).

I don't want to see them imitate, but when Grindhouse came out, I said I would love to see someone like Troublemaker go for a real Grindhouse movement and just churn out fun, quick, low-budget films like once a week. Esp in Austin where they are, they could easily get local theaters on board, and audiences out the door.

I also think so.

Now this is a movie poster!

Unfortunately, I was far too busy for the "Bloody Marys with Rutger" brunch this morning. Wish I would have gone. I heard very few people showed up. Could have got some one on one time with Rut...

The title left me wondering what it could possibly be about... to my surprise there were a lot of scenes that involved a hobo with a shotgun.
