HMC150 and Brevis35 MP.1

Has anyone used the Brevis35 MP.1 with an HMC150. There seems to some issue with centering this adapter and the HPX170. I am interested in using the non flipped version with an HMC150. Thanks for any input.

This issue has zero to do with our adapter. We've coined the term "XY adjust" (which has been adopted by other manufacturers emulating this feature) to describe the problem. It's a well known characteristic with the HVX200 and HV20...and our flip's XY adjust mechanism was designed to address the issue specifically. The problem deals directly with the fact that these camera's imaging blocks are leaving the factory not geometrically aligned with the center of the camera's lens. Our MP.1 flip, was designed nearly two years ago with two adjustment points to address this (there's a reason our flip optics are as large as they are!) and in 99% of existing cases, it's adequate to address the variations we're seeing. Knowing that some of the new camera's are exceeding this XY adjust threshold, it's entirely possible to address with a simple part update (about $20) if required. We have a significant group of users with our system and the new Panasonic cameras...so between that data, and the fact that Barry G has a unit in hand as I write this, rest assured we have you covered. IF you're curious how this adjustment is performed, you'll find setup videos in our Video University section.

Our adapter is manufactured with the imaging element withing .002" of dead center, and Z axis accuracy is in the area of .001". This is required to make sure the 35mm lens image cone is precisely aligned with our imaging element system. XY adjustment occurs after that point to match the vagaries of the camera's out there. The Canon XH-A1, and Sony HD cams all appear to be aligned quite well and generally require very little in terms of adjustment.

Cheers,
Dennis.
