Hit a mystery key - how to reverse it?

Still learning FCP (5.1.4) with some success. Yesterday, I must have accidentlally hit the wrong key or menu combination, because this happened:

1. could no longer drag and drop clips to the viewer, but I could double-click them in.
2. inserting a clip to the sequence timeline moved the scrubber and left a gap but did not display the clip until I clicked in the area.
3. Timeline scrolling was very slow, while adjusting the slider, etc.
4. could not drag and drop or insert any transitions
5. closed FCP and reopened project, and all these things went away.

just would like to know what I inadvertently did so I can fix it w/o closing/opening.

You should trash your preferences and everything should go back to the way it was.

Get "FCP Rescue 5" to trash your prefs.

Sounds almost like what sometimes happens when you hit command-option-W to display the audio waveforms. While the waveforms are being calculated, many timeline-related operations grind to a halt!

I'll try those, thanks. New projects are working just fine, maybe someday I'll figure out what I did.

But yeah, restart is probably a better first choice...
