Hiring Set Dressing.

Hi guys,

Firstly, apologies if this seems an out of place post, but I couldn't really find a suitable subsection (Hey Barry, perhaps we should have a PRE-prduction section???) But...

I'm about to shoot a music video (once a few kinks are ironed out) and want to dress a set with a large quantity or fabric. Thing is, this is gonna be miniscule budget - so I was considering the possibility of hiring set dressing.

From my searching, it seems that this isn't that standard a thing to do so I wonder...

1) What to people usually do about set dressing (and let's include more general props as well as soft furnishings)? Do you hire props or scavenge / buy / beg? (I'm imagining a combination).

2) Does anyone know if it IS possible to hire large quantities of fabric in the UK (preferably no farther north than London)

3) Can anyone reccomend a good prop shop in the same vacinity - just for interests sake?

4) And why we're at it, I'll presume that some folks are going to say they buy it then store or sell it on... how about that process? Where would you buy large quantities of fabric and where might you ell it on again?

Have I just been blathering?? Hell, I don't know, I just tend to blurt stuff out and then not re-read before I send. I know I should, it just adds a little more adventure this way :)

cheers
