HiRes Sony LCD Monitor - under $200!!

Ok, I havent seen anyone try to use this as an external monitor, so I guess Im gonna be the guinea pig.

Its the Sony DVP-FX820... it has the same resolution as the Ikan V8000HD - 800x480. Its actually a portable dvd player/lcd, but the lcd part flips around and shuts so you can view the screen with it folded down. It only cost 179.00.

Im not expecting a miracle or anything, it would just be nice to have a cheap/quality solution for adapter users... Im gonna hook it up right after i eat something, lol, and I'll report back for anyone who might be interested....

Looks like a very nice little DVD player for a good price, but it's strictly standard definition (composite video in only). It won't look anything like an Ikan would on an HD (component video) signal in spite of having the same screen resolution.

Well, I hooked it up... although I thought it looked really good, I wish I had something to compare it to (its my first ext monitor).

I had to take my SGPro off of my DVX, because my first lense hasnt arrived in the mail yet.... But with just the plain ole DVX, I zoomed in on a typed letter and focused. It has gorgeous coloring and imo very accurate. The one thing im not happy about is - you can change the aspect ratio, but only if watching a dvd - not while using the line input... so with the DVX, its "squeezed"

Hopefully my Nikon lense will come tomorrow and we can see what it does with the adapter and everything....
