Hilarious - 35mm adapter for iPhone.

April Fools or not; this has already been achieved.

South Korean director Chan-wook Park (who directed Oldboy) filmed his last movie 'Night Fishing' entirely with iphones. He used a OWLE Bubo mount to attach a EnCinema 35mm adapter to his phone, which allowed him to shoot with a number of 35mm lenses.

The movie had a budget of around $135,000, and was released in mainstream cinemas in Asia.

Some behind the scenes photos and videos can be seen here:

Anyone that waste a 135,000 budget on an I phone is crazy imn my eyes. Although it bring controversy, so it may have worked.

Well, we're talking about an established director here, with a number of successful films behind him, and who has a large fan base. New ideas are born from experimentation.

no, simply the movie was an advertisement for iPhone, so obviously they could not shoot it on RED

Whats RED got to do with it? You've missed the point.

Yeah, the movie was part funded by a telecoms company, and in many ways it was a promotion for the iphone.

However, he decided to let all of his crew and cast members shoot with their iphones at the same time. The result was that he was covered by a multitude of angles, many of which he used in the final movie, which he had not planned for. He also decided to up the ante and rig a 35mm adapter to his own iphone, for some artistic shots (but many shots in the movie did not use the adapter).

The point being that because of the low cost of the technology he was able to make a unique movie.

Under no circumstance would he have been in a position to give RED cameras to all of his crew and have them shoot simultaneously, so even if the the movie had not been funded by a telecoms company the vision would not have been achievable with expensive hardware like the RED.
