Highest quality miniDV tape?

If you had a DVX I'd tell you to only run Panasonic MQ tapes.... but since you don't, the best advice is to just pick a brand and STICK with it. Changing brands = bad news.

Tape quality won't change the picture coming out of your cam. Like Sirius mentioned, pick a brand and stick to it. Since you've got a Sony cam why not go with Sony tape?

Remember that when it comes to digital video it's just data being written to tape ... ones and zeros. The information is either there or it isn't, but a different tape brand isn't going to give you a 'better' one or a 'better' zero.

Like Issac said, the image quality won't change one bit.

All sony are wet lube. All panasonic are dry. you'll be alright with sony, regardless of the lower or higher priced.

(sorry, i'm 3 years old)

I was thinking the same thing.

I wonder how much of the tape prices and different brands is actually pure marketing gumbo for companies to milk a little extra cash from the consumer.

I've always wondering how many of the 'different' tape brands are actually different tapes. I wouldn't be suprised to find out that the tape itself was manufactured by one or two companies.

Nah, I'm just always this childish.

All made at the same factory with a machine that puts on different stickers at random. I can totally see it.

But still, everytime I stray away from sony tapes, I have a problem. Even with the panasonic masters.
