Hey Fellas,

Editing some HDV and trying to produce a high quality encode for DVD Studio Pro.

Video is 5mins long so pretty short.

.M2V files (compressor) are exporting at about 330mb and thats with two way pass, lower field dominace, better settings throughout

Any ideas for compressor settings using HDV to DVD Studio

I also have a uncompressed 8bit MOV file to work with as well

I'm trying to get this to be pretty good quality!

That'd give you one hour for a one layered DVD.

Should be fine, as long as it plays back.

If I had been doing any CC, I'd go from the uncompressed file

You only have to remember two things. First, never set your Averag Bit Rate above 6. Second, check the estimated file size of the m2v file so that it never goes over about 3.7 more or less, depending on how much other stuff (audio, menus, transistions, etc) will be on the disk.

For BEST quality possible, exprot to Compressor directly from the Timeline. Takes more time and keeps both Compressor and FCP busy together. It ignores FCP's render files and reders in slightly better quality from scratch.

Thanks guys,

I guess I'm wondering if there is an middle option

between 1) 330 mb (M2v compressor file) and the 2) 42 gig uncompressed mov

I trying to preserve the colors and the 330mb file isnt cutting it!
