High Quality Wide-Angle Adapter

Does anyone have any comments to share about the Red Eye wide-angle adaptor?

I'm leaving soon for another 12 days documentary shoot and I would like to know if this bit delivers as much as promised.

Thanks,

Alex.

I'm in the market for one, too. The Red Eye is attractive, but it's not glass so I'm not sure about the longevity of it. The .6x Century looks better, but it's not zoom-thru capable. So, right now it looks like the .75x Century is the best option. I'd love to hear about Barry's thoughts on the subject...I've got a corporate shoot to be shot in a vehicle in a few weeks, so I'll report back with my findings on whatever WA I end up with.

The Red Eye is also not "zoom thru" and longevity shouldn't be an issue, if the image is good that's all it matters. There’s no such a things as ‘longevity’ in this price level of gear.
Both the Century and the 16x9 have substantial loss of quality on the edges. Which can be expected with auxiliary lenses, but on HD just doesn't look too good.
Another point for the Red Eye is size and weight, a huge benefit for people like me, which shoots 80% handheld.

I've never heard anyone say anything good about the Century .75. I've heard several people complain loudly about lousy edge-to-edge sharpness.

If you want a zoom-thru wide-angle for a 72mm or 82mm lens thread camera, I can recommend the 16x9Inc .75x. It's sharp as a tack edge to edge when fully zoomed out, though it does go soft on the edges as you start zooming in. I sent in a review of the lens with pictures and stuff to DVXUser; hopefully Jarred will post it soon.

Barry,

Does the 16x9 wide angle work with your Vocas/Century Mattebox? That's the route I'm thinking of going.

Thanks,

Kent
