High pitch frequence???

While editing today I went back on the time line and all the clips on the first half of the time line has no audio, only a high pitch ringing type sound. Don't know if I hit a key by accident or if I have lost audio completely. Everything was fine last night. Can anyone tell me what is going on and how to fix it? Thanks.
 
After more research I have found that the "ringing" is between two audio envelope points. I have moved them close together and isolated to problem to a small area and it is no longer a problem, I could probably delete them and remove it for good. Would still like to know what caused this, but I am no longer freaking out.
 
Not sure what you mean by Which envelope, I am new and self taught on this or any editing software. I am using four different audio time lines and this is on the first one, but I don't think that answers your question.
I am using Vegas Pro 8.
