Hiding lav under clothes

Wabbit, my niece has a permanent IV, and my sister is a nurse, so that is how I found out about it. It is the tape hospitals use when other tape won't stick. Also, it is fairly skin friendly, so talent is much more willing to let you stick it on them (have you ever stuck gaffer tape on a hairy actor....not pretty). ;-)

LOL, I had one actor shave his chest without telling anyone because he was sick of getting hairs ripped out with lav. The hair started to grow back when he had a shirtless scene...gave him all these ingrown hairs and zits. Guess who got yelled at...talent or sound department. I didn't even tell him to do it. :(

do you ask the ladies which side they like the transmitter antenna when you place the tx on inside leg :-)
the lower frequency tx have some benefits with that one :-)))))

ah, the hidden joys of the lav mic...

Its true though, "locker room" talk will blow your rep to sh*t. That doesnt mean it isnt fun wiring a hot actress though. :)

I worked on a film/commercial years ago where I actually rubber-cemented the tram mic the side of the talents head. Just over the ear. Combed the hair back over and no one was the wiser for that. The wire ran up his neck and over his ear. That was an extream.

Worked on a "Mrs. America" pageant where I had to mic a large number of really-fine looking women in slinky evening gowns. Yikes. It's one of the benfits of working in this business, working with truely lovely actresses, but I'm always all-business about mic'ing. Now I'm working in a corporate environment, and we get business women in our studio to mic every week. I'll always ask them to run the mics up their shirts themselves. They will always search my demeanor to see what my motivation is. I bring up women simply because it seems to be the epitome of awkwardness. A male audio eng. mic'ing a female talent.

Really good points brought up- locker room talk is damaging, but also to your own mind frame. Those instances are awkward-for both people involved , and a professional manner can go a long way to make things easier for everyone.

What does it all mean? Hell- I dont know. Just had to add.

Its always a bit of a surprise to me to see which threads take on a life of their own. Now in this case, bringing up the idea of micing women and well...

I guess I shouldn't have been surprised at all.
