HF10, getting footage off the damn camera!

I have just completed a shoot for a short movie on a Canon HF10.

I have 4 days to get the footage off the camera onto my computer to start editing.

The footage is perfect on the camera but there are 2 problems.

----

1. The footage when panning, has this stupid zig zag edges on anything that moves at more than walking speed. So people walking end up having their back turn into this sawtooth line instead of looking as smooth, like it does on the camera.

Is it just me or does 1080 MTS SUCK!!!!

How do I get the 1080 footage to be the way it's supposed to be. Watchable at 1080 resolution and actually look like it's at least as good as standard TV, without the jaggered sawtooth effect?

2. This is the big one. The internal camera mic records the audio to the MTS file. But the external mic doesn't.

On the camera, all the sound is perfect for the external mic, but when they copy to the computer, no sound.

So how do I get the footage and the sound, onto the computer?

It's times like these that make me want to go back to a compact 8MP, digital still camera. At least what you see on screen is what you get on the computer.

How do I get the footage onto my computer without it being pathetic?

Cheers peeps. You all rock!

The HF shoots interlaced video. It is supposed to be that way. To watch on a computer you need to deinterlace it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVCHD#1080i

Are you saying that when you play video on a computer, you hear sound from the built-in mic, but not from the external mic? How do you know that on the camera external mic works? Check your AC3 codec, and check your mic. Is it a powered type? Does it have battery? Is it turned on?
