All the good grips need to know their knots, so I figured some sort of discussion about em would be a load of fun. I've been picking up whatever I can on sets and been searching the web for the rest. Since then a small piece of string has become so much more fun.

These are the most useful ones I've come across. Maybe check it out? Learn a few?

Truckers hitch - Good for when keeping tension on the line is important.

and if you're really cool, you learn how to do it one handed.

Square knot - Use it to tie two pieces of rope together, or as he says, a bundle of sticks together...Either way...

So, there are some knots for you guys. Got any favorites of your own?

Haha, I'm all about the sheepshank. I found that one online the other day and couldn't resist learning it given the name. I look forward to the day that I can actually use it.

Didn't you do some sort of sailing or something? I assume this is right up your alley.

Double fishermans gets used quite often, for making lanyards

The classic square knot is good, but you should also know the sheet bend, works well for tying pieces of rope with different diameters.

Figure-8 follow through is the strongest end-loop you can make on a rope.
