Here's a little EAR candy... real storm audio.

You MUST use decent headphones to really appreciate this. If you read these posts and enjoy an escape from your life for a moment... I guarantee you'll like this.

Using headphones really shows off the capability of a simple ORTF recording using two mics.

If you've got some 7506s or similar, that's all that's required... if you're using REALLY good computer speakers or a system capable of LOW bass then turn it down a bit the first time through... at about 1 minute there's a substantial lightening strike... it's no big deal through headphones... but there's a lot of bass in it...

BTW this recording isn't even 2 hours old! This is the 3rd night in a row that we've had storms in STL...

7506s have a lot more detail then any computer speakers.

Enjoy.

Cool. Err... I have to take a leak... ;D

What about that last lightining, huh? Very cool!

Re: Here's a little EAR candy... real storm audio.

Thanks for the comments guys! I know I've dumped a lot of junk on this forum... but I still like to get some feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I'm telling you that if you pop on some headphones the stereo effect is incredible...

Anybody with headphones should check it out.

I'll try to have some more interesting video/audio in the future... maybe some cute girls or something. ;D

Speaking of which... taubkin... Brazil? Man YOU should be posting something about the amazing girls you have down there!

Seriously I think it's cool that we have such a spread of nationalities on here. I'm of German descent... but we've been in the US for over a hundred years.

Re: Here's a little EAR candy... real storm audio.

Cool. I love storms. Well I love being indoors during them. ::)

Re: Here's a little EAR candy... real storm audio.

Sheesh storms, sounds like Stalingrad 1943!
Great work Matt what did you record that with?

Re: Here's a little EAR candy... real storm audio.

Isn't that great? :D Everytime I listen to that I can't keep from smiling.

I don't want to get all weird on you guys... but I'm basically a lost agnostic... I wish I could believe in God in the common way that 90% of the world does... but I can't shake the science that 90% of those same people ignore... BUT... But everytime I hear things like this I get a warm feeling that maybe there is some actual personality behind our life experience. Maybe there's something we just can't understand as of yet and throughout history we've simply made our best attempts? All I know is when I hear things like this I feel humble.

The really amazing thing about this audio clip is the VIDEO that you don't see. There was an incredibly bright rainbow... a double... bright as can be! And suddenly lightening was dancing across the sky... almost like it was playing with it.

Maybe I should post that video, but it's really poor since I was concentrating on the sound and had no idea it was going to happen.

FYI the audio was done with 2 Rode Nt1000 mics on top of one stand... facing out at 45 degree angles from each other... in another words standard ORTF configuration... and both mics were simply plugged into the DVX.

Re: Here's a little EAR candy... real storm audio.

Okay Arcburn... but you're going to be dissappointed in the quality of the video over the quality of the audio... like I said, I didn't really expect this footage and I was just acting like an idiot with the camera while the mics were on a stand.

It doesn't look that bad. it's pretty cool actually. I love lightening and thunder.

I'll get in touch with my regular pimp! ;D

Yeah, I love living in Brazil, and I think my fellow brazilians on this board will have to agree with me. My ol'man lives in Miami and I just can't see myself over there with him. Great place to work with filmmaking also. I'm trying to write something to shoot at the beach, maybe capture some of that brazilian feel, but I'll have to hold it until I actually have time to go there. On the bright side, maybe we'll see some nice Brazilian chicks in swimsuits!

Re: Here's a little EAR candy... real storm audio.

Swimsuits? In Brasil?

So much for my plans to visit SoAm. I might as well go see my parents in New Jersey...

D

Brazil is the home of the best bottoms in the world... I don't know what's going on down there, but it's rare to see a girl who doesn't have a world class ass.

Sorry to any ladies on this board if this sounds sexist... but it's true.
