Here's a good way to write dialog!!!

So I'm sitting home and thought of an idea to hear the dialog play out. I don't know if this was ever talked about on here but it helps soo much!! I bought a voice recorder, 30 dollars at cvs. When I finish writing a scene, I act it out in the tape recorder, works like a charm!! i hear it back and it's wonderful, haha. Just thought I'd share.

p.s. those with a significant other living them with, please make sure your alone when you talk to yourself

Hey, not a bad idea. I think I'll have to try this. Of course, I'll have to act out the voices too and not just the words.

You could just sit alone in your car at the grocery store or mall parking lot and act out your scene for the audio recorder. Of course, someone will probably park in the space next to your vehicle while you're in the middle of a scene and hear you rambling on as they exit their vehicle.

And if you should happen to be in public, going through your lines, make sure it is NOT the Airport, and that you are NOT doing a story about terrorists taking over.

Note to people on tight production budgets: stand behind a hat on a public sidewalk while doing this, and people will sometimes throw money into the hat.

Another note: Do not stand in front of the Monkey cage, they might throw something too, but it won't be money.

yes lol sorry i don't laugh much these days so it doesn't take a lot to get me going

oh I just realized it was only you who said the funny parts

Stand in front of a mirror, too, that helps. Just when you think your dialogue sounds right, it doesn't when it's out loud.
