Hi
I am from India and am planning to buy a setup for editing on Final cut pro.

I will be mostly editing at most a feature film on my machine and am also planning to buy a dvx 102ae.

so i wnt to know if i should go for a powermac g5 2.7ghz. My question is, is it really really necessary or can i go for 2ghz or even a imac?

The whole post production will be done ths machine, so basically i want a machine that will edit, do effects, dvd authoring, music compositions etc etc

so wht suggestions can you give me, ive been following ths site for a very loooong time, also if i have to go in for a pc, what configuration will i need, my worry wid pc is, hardware integration, becasue im really low on cash, i cannot afford to make mistakes on my investments. ths is like my life savings..

pls
plzzzzzzz
plzzz helppppppp me!!!!!!!!!!!

You can edit a feature with Final Cut on the most basic Mac, you don't need to get the fastest model.
However, with the faster Macs you save time. If you don't have time limitations, get whatever you can afford.
If you have a deadline to meet, get the fastest machine you can.
Be sure to save money for backup and extra RAM.

You want at least 1GB extra RAM, but 2GB or more would be better. Don't get the RAM from Apple, tho - too expensive. Use a third party like www.datamem.com - reliable, inexpensive RAM.

Ideally you will get a second hard drive to capture and edit on (either internal or external, doesn't matter) and at least one other hard drive to back everything up.

Good luck.
