Helpful articles on Audio for Video People

All good links. Remember though that film and video is it's own thing so keep in mind where the info is coming from. The first link is games and games are not dialog driven and by nature are usually not as "natural" as might be appropriate in a film. Transom is a radio (mostly journalism) site and loaded with pretty good info but they aren't dealing with picture and they are mostly working at capturing interviews. The last one is music, again good information but music is mixed very differently than a film so you have to be careful about things like level advice. Music, especially pop music is mixed very compressed and pushed to just below distortion (or above depending on your point of view). Films are mixed much lower and much less compressed. Broadcast standards would not even let you play a video that had the audio track close to what pop music is mixed at.
So all good links and good info but remember that they may not apply directly to what you are doing.
Also one bit of EQ advice that is sort of hinted at is that if poss you always want to cut not boost with EQ. Gentle slight boosts are OK but as a rule it will always sound more natural if you cut in stead. So instead of boosting the highs try cutting the lows.

I'll look through my links and see if I can find something to add.

Dunno if the link I posted has advice for mixing or not, been using it for two years and never read the whole page, lol ... what I use from it is just the frequencies table so I know where to fiddle if I want warmer or clearer, etc.
