For some reason, I can't get a handle on where some recently imported video footage has gone.
here's some background:
I'm using my DVX-100B, shooting in standard 24p. I'm shooting an electronic press kit for a pro golfer friend on mine in Southern California.
I've been using my PowerBook G4 as my scratch disk. I have a Maxtor external hard drive that i use for backing things up only. (It might be smart to use THAT as the scratch disc but I'm not handling that much footage and I move around a lot and didn't want to be dragging my Maxtor everywhere..)
My imported video files had been going just fine into my capture scratch folder just inside my Macintosh HD.
But some recently imported footage didn't go there. In fact, I can't even find it. But it shows up just fine in the timeline, in other words, it's not offline, but I can't find them stored anywhere (?!)
And now my MacHD is getting full. (1 gig left out of 75)
So I want to trash some of my unsed files to clear up space, but I can't find them. So I'm stuck. I can't import anymore footage becuase clips that I don't even need are hiding from me somewhere on my HD..(!)
My main question is this:
Should your capture scratch folder be in one EXACT place only?
How can files go missing but still show up fine in the timeline?
THANKS,
