when recording audio in the field through the dvx using an mk012 and an m audio mixer should I set the input channels on the dvx to use 1 for both left and right. so i would in essence be getting dual mono. or is there a way to record in mono. and should i be. when I record with just input 1 set on channel on and input 2 set on channel 2 with one mic, in post I have only the left side obviously but I don't want my audio of a scene to be heard only from the left and I know there is a way to do this in camera so I assume that the first way (dual mono) is just the way to do it:)

like horse says, its actually input two. and technically, that wont be dual mono because that setting is usually used for a backup copy with different gain settings (in case of overload on your primary channel).

so you'll have the same content on both channels, but one channel will be softer (your backup channel).

uh, maybe you should just find out how to split your clips so you can stop worrying about this :)

so take yankees initial advice, and get yourself an audio sequencing/editing package - pref pro tools or nuendo, but even just an editor would help u.

good luck

thanks for the advice guys. I have audition and premiere pro and found a little program called audacity to split the stereo track. I still dont understand the backup track thing though.

edit: i get it
