Have a question, i am a young filmmaker, i am making my first short film with a script and there is a part where two people are talking...
JERRY
(still sleepy)
Hello?

MIKE (O.S.)
(annoyingly loud)
Hi, is this Gary Stevenson?

-------------------------------------

How can i make it the phone like when Mike is off screen and he says Hi, is this Gary Stevenson?

Because i want to show Jerry say hello? and in the same shot You hear Mike on the phone talking? How do i do that in editing?

I'm not quite sure I understand what you are asking for? You want to see Jerry answer the phone and only hear Mike as though he's on the phone? Is that what you are trying to do? Also, what editing program are you using?

ummm, easy way would be to have mike call you on the phone and read his lines while you hold a mic to the phone earpiece. That would get you the tonal range and quality of a telephone without too much work.

Use a parametric EQ and chop the lows and chop the highs only leaving the mids. Low cut and High Cut. Move the band of cut lows toward the mids until you get the desired sound.
